Financial Services marketing is a different game

The Challenge
Accountants, advisers, wealth managers, investment houses and probate specialists aren’t selling a product, they’re asking people to trust them with money, legal responsibility and sometimes at the most difficult moments of their lives.
That means the usual marketing playbook doesn’t work. Get the tone wrong and you sound cold or salesy. Get the message too vague and clients can’t see what actually makes you different from the firm down the road. Get the compliance and nuance wrong and you risk credibility with the very people you’re trying to reassure.
We specialise in cutting through that complexity. Turning technical expertise into messaging that’s clear, human and genuinely differentiating.
Our Approach
Clarity first. Empathy always.
Whether we’re marketing an inheritance tax planning service, a wealth management proposition, an investment tool, or a full-service accountancy firm, our approach stays the same:
- Understand the real client journey. Financial decisions are rarely made in one step. We map the emotional and practical stages a client goes through, from first concern to signed engagement.
- Segment by audience, not just service. A worried executor, a family planning ahead and a professional introducer all need a different message – even when you’re offering them the same expertise.
- Lead with a reason to engage, not a sales pitch. Guides, seminars and practical tools consistently outperform generic “get in touch” messaging in this sector, because they let prospects self-educate at their own pace, on their terms.
- Make the complex feel manageable. Good financial services marketing doesn’t dumb things down, it makes technical expertise feel accessible and reassuring.
Case Study: GSM & Co
Repositioning a century-old accountancy firm’s Probate offering

The brief:
GSM & Co, specialist accountants with over 100 years of experience in estate and inheritance tax work, needed to stand out in a market dominated by solicitors and banks – many of whom charge a percentage of estate value rather than a fair, transparent hourly rate. GSM needed a campaign that communicated expertise, empathy and value, across multiple very different audiences.
The strategy:
We built a segmented campaign targeting four distinct groups, each requiring a different tone and message:
- Newly-appointed executors facing an overwhelming list of responsibilities at an already difficult time
- Adult children (40s–60s) starting to think about their own estate planning while managing a parent’s probate
- Established families with growing property and asset values moving closer to Inheritance Tax thresholds
- Financial advisers and wealth managers looking for a trusted probate partner to refer clients to
The campaign:
- A stand-alone web page — “Don’t let Probate add to the pain” — built around empathy-led photography and a clear, reassuring tone: https://gsm-accountants.cmspreview.co.uk/services/tax-advice-and-services/probate-and-estate-administration-services
- A free downloadable “7-Step Guide to Probate,” used as the central lead-generation mechanism across every channel: https://heyzine.com/flip-book/f66cfdf6f6.html
- Four tailored e-shots, each written in a distinct voice for its audience
- A print and digital seminar invitation for a live Q&A event, positioning GSM’s 100+ years of experience as the headline credibility point
- FAQ and objection-handling social media content addressing the real questions clients have before enquiring (Do I need a solicitor? What does probate cost? How long does it take?)
The result:
A single, consistent campaign positioning and identity – “Probate with Clarity & Care” – that works equally well as a web page, a direct mail piece, an email nurture sequence, a seminar invite and a referral tool for professional introducers, all built around GSM’s genuine points of difference: fair time-based pricing, deep tax expertise and over a century of family trust.
